The tournament, running from September 2nd to 14, 2025, will bring together twelve national teams from across the continent, with the top two finalists earning qualification to the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2026 in Türkiye.

Africell Sierra Leone has reinforced its commitment to the growth of the country’s media industry with the launch of a newly rebranded and renovated studio for Radio Democracy. The unveiling ceremony, which took place earlier today in Freetown, was led by Africell’s Chief Executive Officer, Shadi Gerjewi. The event brought together media practitioners, Africell executives, and representatives of civil society who welcomed the initiative as a boost to Sierra Leone’s broadcasting sector.

In a spirited show of corporate sportsmanship and national pride, Africell Sierra Leone has reaffirmed its commitment to youth sports by sponsoring the national under-18 volleyball team for the upcoming CAVB U18 Beach Volleyball Continental Cup. The official signing ceremony took place on Friday, July 25, at Africell’s headquarters on Pivot Street, Wilberforce, Freetown. The Continental Cup, organized by the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB), serves as a qualification tournament for the FIVB U19 Beach Volleyball World Championships, showcasing the continent’s top emerging talent. Sierra Leone’s participation is both a testament to the country’s rising volleyball profile and the outcome of years of strategic investment in the sport.

In a groundbreaking move to honor International Women’s Day 2025, Africell Sierra Leone granted all its female employees a special day off on Friday, March 7, 2025, allowing male employees to step into their roles for the day. This unprecedented initiative offered a unique opportunity for male staff to experience firsthand the vital contributions of their female colleagues in the workplace.

In celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, Africell Sierra Leone has officially launched its annual Ramadan Show, Na Yu Get, offering a total of Le500, 000 in cash prizes to subscribers across the country.

Africell, one of the country’s leading mobile network operators, has officially launched an exhilarating 3-on-3 basketball tournament, slated to take place in March 2025, for its employees. The Sierra Leone Basketball Federation (SLBF) is one step closer to realizing its vision of building an indoor basketball court in Aberdeen. During a site visit today, the President of SLBF, Alie Hijazi, Africell’s owner, Ziad Dalloul, and CEO, Shadi Al-Gerjawi, along with Africell’s marketing and finance teams, assessed the proposed location for the project, which is expected to be completed within three years.
