Africell Sierra Leone has once again demonstrated its commitment to youth empowerment and national pride by providing crucial financial support to the country’s U16 Basketball Team ahead of the FIBA U16 Afro-Basket 2025 Tournament in Kigali, Rwanda. The tournament, running from September 2nd to 14, 2025, will bring together twelve national teams from across the continent, with the top two finalists earning qualification to the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2026 in Türkiye.

Africell Sierra Leone has officially launched its own league for subscribers on the Fantasy Premier League (FPL), offering football fans an exciting opportunity to showcase their managerial skills while competing for attractive prizes. The launch took place on Thursday, 31st July 2025, at the company’s headquarters on Pivot Street, Wilberforce in Freetown.

In a spirited show of corporate sportsmanship and national pride, Africell Sierra Leone has reaffirmed its commitment to youth sports by sponsoring the national under-18 volleyball team for the upcoming CAVB U18 Beach Volleyball Continental Cup. The official signing ceremony took place on Friday, July 25, at Africell’s headquarters on Pivot Street, Wilberforce, Freetown. The Continental Cup, organized by the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB), serves as a qualification tournament for the FIVB U19 Beach Volleyball World Championships, showcasing the continent’s top emerging talent. Sierra Leone’s participation is both a testament to the country’s rising volleyball profile and the outcome of years of strategic investment in the sport.

Africell, one of the country’s leading mobile network operators, has officially launched an exhilarating 3-on-3 basketball tournament, slated to take place in March 2025, for its employees. The event, which features a total prize pool of 18,000 new Leones, will be held at the Young Sportsmen Club (YSC) on Wilkinson Road in Freetown.

The Sierra Leone Basketball Federation (SLBF) is one step closer to realizing its vision of building an indoor basketball court in Aberdeen. During a site visit today, the President of SLBF, Alie Hijazi, Africell’s owner, Ziad Dalloul, and CEO, Shadi Al-Gerjawi, along with Africell’s marketing and finance teams, assessed the proposed location for the project, which is expected to be completed within three years.
